It’s available pretty much everywhere now, and good for us. Out of nowhere comes a band I was never really a big fan of. I’d listened to a few of their notable records earlier this year and actually ended up enjoying them more than I expected. Lately, I’ve been keeping my ear to the ground for new releases, but somehow this one slipped right past me. To be fair, I did catch some interviews with Mr. Havok, but I didn’t recognize him at first. Regardless, this is a great record. Some people are calling it goth  maybe, sure  but there’s more going on here than that. The shift in sound is jarring in the best way, and that’s exactly why it earns my pick for this week’s Friday Release  the first one of the month. The first one ever.
